Lo and behold, my September #wrapup (Side note: how is it October 1st when it’s 90 degrees in LA again?!)
I’ve said before that I’m a total mood reader, and once again this has proven to be true. Last month was the first time I gave a go at a full-on monthly tbr pile to attempt, and I only got through 2.5 on that list, BUT, I have #noregrets. 🤷🏼♀️
I read what was manageable with my current life-stuff, and my time spent writing, which is a huge priority for me.
I think this is also a good time to admit that sometimes bookstagram gives me a lil bit of the anxiety/imposter syndrome feels 🤭, because I can’t always keep up with those who are able to read SO MUCH even with their clearly super busy lives (10-15 books and not even for school…how?! 🤯). But, I think I’m not alone here. So, perhaps it’s important to try not to let that feeling get us down or put a damper on what we sometimes-slower readers have accomplished.
I finished The Interestings from the month before, re-read Big Magic for inspiration, and the last issue I bought of my favorite poetry mag that was languishing on my shelf.
From my tbr, I also read a good chunk of stories from Whatever Happened to Interracial Love, the first few chapters of The Lonely City (love🖤love🏙love🖤 & must savor), and chugged away on the Everlasting Gobstobber that is The Blind Assassin for me, haha.
Goldfinch is open in the back of the photo there where I last left off (about halfway through). I was reading it for the @anovelfamily #goldfinchreadalong, and though I didn’t finish it, I spent so much time with it in September that I’m including it here. It got a little sloggy for me in the middle, which admittedly slowed me down, but the beginning was so damn gorgeous that I have faith this will turn out to be as beautiful as I expected.
I did finish 4 books that were #readwhatyouown!, and I pretty much loved everything I read, so… 🤘🏼💫💓
📖📖📖📖📖1/2 (Ratings below in the comments cuz they don’t fit! 😬)
Happy October 1st everyone! Let the spooky reads begin! 👻🍂🦇🕸🎃
